It’s cold. And snowing. A lot. So, what did I do today? After having lunch and shopping for books, I went to an equal rights rally at BGSU with Dave and Joy!
I’ve never attended a rally/protest, but you know what? This is important. It’s absolutely ridiculous that only certain couples are “allowed” to get married, and I am so damn disappointed in California that I don’t even have the words.
So, I went to the Join the Impact event at BG — I know, it’s not a lot, but it’s something. And maybe someday I’ll be able to do more.
That photo there is me with BGSU’s very own gay superhero, Super Queer.

You forgot to mention how everybody’s asses got wet from the snow and rain. Super Queer was smart to wear the ass covering cape. Once again I learn an important life lesson about keeping warm from a super hero.

that is great that you went to the rally!! and you got to meet a super hero…cooler yet!
you know, california always seems to be such a cutting-edge, trendy state….i cannot believe the sh*t they are trying to pull. i mean, i would expect that from ohio or montana…not california!

Yes but California still has its rural areas that can always screw with state votes if fully mobilized and a large number of Catholics who would oppose gay marriage. It also helps when the LDS Church and others send large sums of money from outside the state to help mobilize support for Prop 8. I mean this sounds almost like Bleeding Kansas in the 1850s.

True. True. So what you are saying is California is the new Kansas?

Well I think that the way people have mobilized over the California battle is reminiscent of the way pro-slavery and anti-slavery forces mobilized over popular sovereignty in the Kansas and Nebraska Territory.
